DCA Guide: Paradise Gardens Park

This area opened with the park as Paradise Pier. Paradise Pier was a combination of Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier as one area. But when Disney started to change the area to Pixar Pier, one half of the area was made into its own area called Paradise Gardens Park. It’s a area dedicated to the wonder of beachside amusement parks, with a nice view of the Pixar Pal-A-Round.

  • The Little Mermaid-Ariel’s Undersea Adventure

Just like the famous Disney dark rides at Disneyland, this attraction follows the adventures of Ariel from the movie The Little Mermaid. You hop aboard clam-mobiles and head “underwater” and see Ariel and her friends. You’ll hear and see musical numbers such as “Under the Sea” and come face-to-face with Ursula. It’s a fine ride, but it’s not worth it if the wait time is more than 10 minutes.

  • Golden Zephyr

Inspired by the famous science fiction stories of the 1920s, guests can step inside one of of the gleaming spaceships and glide over the water and Paradise Garden Park below. It’s a relay nice and underrated attraction at DCA. I try to go on it every time I’m at DCA. I love flying over the park and feeling the wind on my face. Note that this does close early on days with World of Color performances and will not run if there are strong winds.

  • Jumpin’ Jellyfish

Hop on one of 12 colorful jellyfish and travel up and down a 40-foot tower. It’s been a long time since I’ve ridden this. It’s a fine ride but not really worth your time, especially if you only have one day at DCA. But if you have little kids and want to see if they could handle Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, then check it out for a nice view and kid sized thrills. Note that this does close early on days of World of Color performances and you have to be 40” or taller to ride.

  • Goofy’s Sky School

Inspired by the Disney cartoon Goofy’s Glider from 1940, this thrilling attraction teaches guests how to fly the Goofy way! Climb inside your coaster vehicle as you go around 1,200 feet of track. The most unique aspect of this coaster is the turns that make you feel like you might fall off the coaster! It’s a fun attraction to ride with friends as you try to fly the Goofy way! Note that the vehicles could be small for larger and older guests and that you need to be 42” or taller to ride. You can also use FASTPASS for this ride.

  • Silly Symphony Swings

If you want to fly over Paradise Bay, but this time have your legs hanging out in the air during the experience, then head to Silly Symphony Swings! This is inspired by the 1935 cartoon The Band Concert, which had Mickey Mouse as a conductor who keeps on playing music even as a tornado hits the orchestra. With Mickey on the top of the canopy, and “William Tell Overture” playing as your ride, get ready for some carefree fun at the park! Note this attraction does close early on days of World of Color performances and you do have to be 40” or taller to ride.

  • World of Color

This unforgettable show takes place on the waters that is Paradise Bay. Celebrating the magic of Disney storytelling, moments of classic Disney and Pixar films are projected on a fountain spraying 19,000-square feet of water. In order to view this amazing night time show, you can get a FASTPASS near The Little Mermaid-Ariel’s Undersea Adventure. But there are a limited number of tickets available, so we recommend that if seeing World Of Color is a priority to you, to get FASTPASSES as soon as possible in the morning of your visit. You could also reserve a World of Color Dining Package at either Carthay Circle Restaurant or Wine Country Trattoria. Check your entertainment schedule for times.

  • Paradise Garden Bandstand

Located in the outdoor dining area for Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta and Paradise Garden Grill, the Bandstand performance lovely music as you eat or just to enjoy the atmosphere of Paradise Gardens Park. Check your entertainment schedule for times.

  • Bayside Brews

The place to try craft beers or some soft pretzels that are even in a Mickey shape! Alcohol is only served to guests 21 and older. Mobile ordering is available at this place.

  • Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta

This is the place for some of the best pizza at DCA. You can also get pasta and fresh salads made by professional chefs. It’s one of my favorite places to eat at DCA.

  • Paradise Garden Grill

The place to get entrees such as Beer-battered Cod or a Roasted Turkey Leg. Mobile ordering is available at this place.

  • Corn Dog Castle

Some of the best corn dogs at the resort are made here. Choose from original, hot link, or ooey-gooey cheddar corn dogs that also come with apple slices or chips. Mobile Ordering is available here.

  • Embarcadero Gifts

Across the way from The Little Mermaid-Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, this is the place to get Little Mermaid or World of Color souvenirs.

  • Seaside Souvenirs

Inspired by classic souvenir stand from the 1930s, and located right in front of the Golden Zephyr, this is the place for hats, sunglasses and any other merchandise to help you enjoy the California sun.

Thank you so much for exploring another land with me! Join me next week as we travel to DCA’s newest land Pixar Pier!
