DCA Guide: Pixar Pier

The newest area at DCA is inspired by the character from the beloved Pixar films. The theming is amazing and works well with the previous Paradise Pier theme. You can soar through the sky with the Incredibles, or play games with the Toy Story gang, If you are a fan of anything Pixar, then head over to Pixar Pier.

  • Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind

As of this publishing, the attraction has still not opened yet. But from the concept art that Disney can shown us, it’s going to be a fun ride up in the air as you ride past the memory orbs from the film. Check it out once it opens, especially if you are a fan of Inside Out.

  • Pixar Pal-A-Round

This Ferris wheel is one of the most unique of its kind. It’s only one of 2 Ferris wheels in the U.S. that combine fixed and sliding gondolas; the other one being the Wonder Wheel at New York’s Coney Island. You can choose to experience the attraction with no swinging or with swinging. You get inside a gondola that has the face of a different Pixar movie character from Woody to Lightning McQueen to lift up 150 feet in the air for spectacular views. I love the amazing views you get from the top of the wheel. Note that the swinging gondolas might cause motion sickness and that the Pixar Pal-A-Round does close early for World of Color performances.

  • Games of Pixar Pier

As you walk down the boardwalk of Pixar Pier, try your luck at four Pixar themed games. You can “hook” magnetic stars at La Luna Star Catcher, toss candy corn into Heimlich’s mouth at Heimlich’s Candy Corn Toss, aim a “fire extinguisher” to raise Wall-E and Eve at Wall-E Space Race, and roll balls inside targets to make your horse run faster at Bullseye Stallion Stampede. Make sure to go to one of the dispensing machines near the game booths and buy a special play card to have fun at the games.

  • Toy Story Midway Mania!

This unique 4D experience involves guest joining the gang from the Toy Story films and play fun carnival games. It’s a really fun attraction that I love to play when I go with my family. It’s also an attraction that you can easily go on again and again so that you can beat your high score or uncover some fun Easter eggs to earn some more points. Note that you can get FASTPASSES for this attraction and is OPEN during World of Color performances.

  • Jessie’s Critter Carousel

Inspired by the the show Woody’s Roundup from Toy Story 2, this carousel was originally themed to King Triton from The Little Mermaid. Now guest can ride some sweet woodland creatures with Jessie in charge. It’s the perfect ride to go on with some of the smaller members of your party, while the older members ride the Incredicoaster. Note that this attraction does close early on nights with World of Color performances.

  • Incredicoaster

One of the most popular rides when DCA first opened as California Screamin’, gets a fresh paint job and new theming as the Incredibles movie in. The story is that Jack-Jack is having trouble with his powers so it’s up to you and the Incredibles to help to save Jack-Jack. The coaster has included special effects in each of the special tunnels and a musical score that helps make the ride experience much more memorable. It’s the most thrilling attraction at the resort, so it’s perfect for the most thrilling of thrill seekers. Note that the Incredicoaster closes early on nights that include World of Color performances, you have to be 48” or taller to ride, and that it’s an attraction that has FASTPASSES.
