Beginning May 21, there will be a new and extremely interesting option for those looking to purchase an Annual Pass for the Disneyland Resort in California.
The new Flex Annual Pass will cost $599 and will slide right in between the current $399 So Cal Select pass and the $799 Deluxe pass.
What makes the Flex pass so intriguing is the reservation system. The pass will have a calendar of dates that are good to go without any type of reservation. You can just show up on those dates and be admitted to the parks. Those good to go dates are similar to the So Cal pass and don’t feature any weekends, holidays, or summer days.
The rest of the calendar, except for the weeks surrounding Christmas, is available with a reservation. Pass holders are allowed to hold 2 reservations at a time. Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance and can be made through the Disneyland website or app.
The Flex pass also includes a 10% discount on food and merchandise, but not parking.
The pass sounds like it could be a real value for those that plan their trips ahead of time. The big question mark is how many reservations will Disney allow for each day? If Disney only allows a few reservations, especially during popular days, it could be a real fight trying to get a reservation. This could lead to a lot of frustration for the pass holders. But, if there are a lot of reservations available, and getting one regularly is fairly easy, this Flex pass could be a steal. Only time will tell.
Be on the look for more information and insight as the pass actually goes live and people start to share their opinions on the new system.
